IHE participates in a European collaboration on prostate cancer. The PIONEER project aims to optimize healthcare in prostate cancer by using and analysing large quantities of data generated in everyday clinical practice. The project focuses on a number of different problems: a lack of standardized definitions through the various stages of the disease, insufficient knowledge of the risk factors for developing prostate cancer, improved processes for the development of outcome measures and better integration of knowledge generated through clinical practice in regulatory, HTA and pricing & reimbursement decision-making. IHE will use PIONEER’s data to estimate the cost of prostate cancer in the various stages of the disease. IHE will also develop reference models that make it possible to evaluate different technologies depending on when in the care pathway they are used. The project runs for five years and is expected to end in 2023.
