The role of patient preferences is becoming more prominent in decision making processes. At IHE, we have long standing experience in preference methods both directed towards patients and the general public. Methods we employ include quality of life instruments, willingness-to-pay studies, time-trade off, standard gamble measurements and discrete choice experiments. We have estimated the value of a statistical life (VSL) within the transport sector and have performed multiple studies on the value of a QALY. We have also conducted studies contrasting different patient preference methods.
