IHE presents at the 19th Croatian Oncology Congress
Croatia has the second highest cancer incidence rate and the highest cancer mortality rate in the EU. Although five-year survival rates have increased from 44% in the early 2000s to 59% in 2019-2023, the country lags behind other EU countries. Cancer care expenditure per capita are the second lowest in the EU.
In the opening session of the 19th Croatian Oncology Congress (HOK2026), Thomas Hofmarcher presented on the cancer situation in Croatia in a European context, as a continuation of his talk at the same conference last year. Afterwards, he discussed with Prof. Eduard Vrdoljak and Prof. Stjepko Pleština how Croatia can improve its performance by focusing on a better strategy, data, investment, and technology.
During the conference, a report entitled Dashboard for Croatia was also presented by Thomas Hofmarcher.
