IHE presents at World Health Assembly 2026

On the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva last week, IHE contributed to two important discussions on how evidence, data, and accountability can support measurable progress in global health.

Together with the Lung Cancer Policy Network and MSD, IHE hosted the workshop “Operationalizing the Lung Cancer Agenda: A Pathway to Measurable Progress.” The discussion focused on the Lung Cancer KPI Framework, a global initiative led by IHE and co-created with international experts to help countries measure progress across the lung cancer pathway. Thomas Hofmarcher presented lessons from pilot testing in Brazil, Egypt, Ireland, Malaysia, Poland, and the UK.

IHE also contributed to the WHA79 Strategic Roundtable on “Advancing Women’s Health and NCD Equity Across the Continuum of Care in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.” Thomas Hofmarcher joined a panel on moving from priorities to action, highlighting the role of evidence, benchmarking, and accountability in strengthening regional policy responses. He highlighted findings from the regional card for the Middle East and North Africa from our recent global report on women’s cancers. Learn more about IHE’s global report on women’s cancer
