Cancer dashboard for Algeria developed in cooperation with national experts

Cancer represents one of the greatest public health challenges in the world and in Algeria, its incidence continues to rise steadily. Cancer affects all segments of the population and has a profound impact on the health system, families, and society as a whole.

This dashboard-style report for Algeria provides a visual and quantitative description of selected key performance indicators to help measure and understand the burden of cancer and the performance of cancer care in Algeria. The selected indicators relate to outcomes, resources and process metrics in all areas of cancer care and control.

The dashboard is intended to reinforce the implementation of ongoing initiatives in Algeria, such as the National Strategy on Prevention and Fight against Cancer 2025 -2035 (La Stratégie Nationale de Prévention et de la Lutte contre le Cancer 2025-2035), to further improve cancer care in the country. The description seeks to support Algerian policy makers in the decision-making and prioritization of initiatives in cancer care.

National experts have provided crucial knowledge during the development of the dashboard and have also validated it, among others Professor Adda Bounedjar, President of the National Committee for the Prevention and Against Cancer (CNPLCC) and Dr Reda Kessal. A round-table discussion with Algerian experts took place in Algiers on 30 October 2024 and was followed by a virtual meeting on 19 March 2025.

The dashboard is available in English and French
