IHE presents at event in the European Parliament
The European Cancer Organisation launched the Women and Cancer Policy Index. This new index offers a structured, data-driven overview of how European health systems address women’s cancers across several areas: primary prevention; screening and early detection; quality of care and quality of life; and informal caregiving. The objective of the Women and Cancer Policy Index is to support stronger policy prioritization and more equitable funding for women’s cancers.
At the launch, Andrea Manzano presented findings from Bridging the Gap in Women’s Cancer Care: A Global Policy Report on Disparities, Innovations and Solutions, highlighting the economic burden of women’s cancers and showing that many of the tools needed to drive change are already available. The presentation emphasized that political commitment is vital to advancing women’s cancers on the policy agenda, but that real progress depends on greater investment and prioritization. Investing in women’s cancers is not only a health priority but also a smart economic strategy, since every dollar invested in prevention, early detection, and treatment can generate returns for society and the economy that far exceed the initial cost.
