Correlations between the prescribing patterns of psychotropic medications and socio-economic factors during the COVID-19 pandemic: A cross-sectional Swedish registry study

Ei D, Brådvik G, Lindgren P, Barach P, Bochenek T.

This publication from IHE reports prescribing patterns of psychotropic medications during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. The study found a decrease in prescription for anxiolytic and addiction-related prescriptions in the period 2020 – 2022, with the sharpest drop in medications for nicotine dependence. The changes were not correlated with disease spread or socio-economic factors. The study also found notable regional differences in how prescribing patterns changed over the period.
