IHE participates in roundtable event in the European Parliament

On April 9, 2024 IHE participates in the roundtable event “Fighting Lung Cancer Together as Equals – a Year On” under the patronage of MEP Cristian-Silvio Bușoi in the European Parliament.

Thomas Hofmarcher and Bardh Manxhuka presents key findings of the recently published IHE Report 2024:5. This report follows up on the original Call to Action issued in December 2022 about measuring treatment rates in lung cancer. The report shows that published real-world data (RWD) on treatment rates is very limited in most European countries. The lack of published data undermines the ability to evaluate the quality of lung cancer care and adherence to treatment guidelines.

European health systems invest a lot of money in cancer care – €103 billion in 2018. Measuring the effective and efficient use of that money through relevant KPIs, such as drug treatment rates in lung cancer, is something that should be routinely done.
