IHE participates in the Nordic collaboration project “Undetected visual impairment” and the purpose of the project is to extend screening for vision loss to older people who are already in contact with health care or home care due to age or as a result of other illnesses, but who are not consulting an ophthalmologist or optician on their own.
Within the framework of the project, screening strategies will be developed and tested, for example using health technologies developed to make vision loss screening easy and accessible.
The project is led by the Forskningsenheden i Staben (FORSK) at Sjællands Universitetshospital (SUH) in Denmark and participants in addition to IHE are the Øjenafdelingen at SUH, the University of Halmstad, the Flåttsenteret at Sørlandet sykehus HF, Næstved Kommune, Profil Optik Butikker A/S, Synsam Group Sweden AB, and Eyecheck System AS.
IHE leads the health economic evaluation with the support of researchers at FORSK.
The project will last until November 2025 and Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak is supporting the project with 1,595,019 euros.
