New IHE report on the societal costs of narcotic drug use in Sweden

A new IHE report estimates that societal costs for narcotic drug use in Sweden amounted to just over 44 billion in 2020. Almost half (47%) of costs could be attributed to the value of reduced quality of life for people with a harmful use of narcotic drugs. The report also presents a scenario analysis that calculates changes in costs for narcotic drug use in Sweden if use were to change to levels of use in other EU countries.
