New publication – High use of pain, depression and anxiety drugs in hemophilia

The prevalence of pain has long been focused in haemophilia research but depression and anxiety are less studied. A Nordic collaboration has investigated national prescription drug data in more than 3000 Nordic persons with haemophilia and compared data patterns to population controls. The key study finding is a persistently higher use of pain, depression and anxiety drugs, regardless of age or sex, among people with haemophilia. The study results support continued improvements in interventions for better bleed protection and care irrespective of haemophilia severity, age or sex. The study is published with open access in Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis. Read more
