IHE bidrar till den europeiska diskussionen om att eliminera HPV i Polen

On 16 September 2026, IHE’s Andrea Manzano participated in the 2nd European Summit on Cancer Prevention and Control in the panel HPV Elimination as a Strategic Priority for Cancer Prevention in Poland and the Region.

Drawing on IHE’s work on HPV prevention and cervical cancer elimination in Poland, the discussion focused on what is needed to move from fragmented initiatives to a coordinated national approach. Key topics included the importance of clear political ownership, measurable targets, strong data systems and accountability, as well as the role of school-assisted vaccination, primary care, proactive invitations and reminders, and stronger policy approaches such as opt-out vaccination.

The panel also highlighted the importance of equity and implementation. National vaccination coverage alone may mask substantial differences between regions and population groups, while school-based delivery requires effective coordination between schools and health care providers, clear responsibilities, and adequate resources.

A central message from the discussion was that cervical cancer elimination depends not only on setting ambitious targets, but on translating them into coordinated implementation, measurable progress and sustained accountability.
